Just like the 2015 and 2016, the 2018 vintage of Chateau Dalem is in line with the great vintages of this beautiful property, situated on the gorgeous terroirs of Fronsac, located on the Right Bank of the Bordeaux region.
The Chateau Dalem 2018 was also the very first vintage to be produced after the expansion and modernization of the estate’s buildings. These important works allowed the winemaking team to achieve greater precision and to carry out the vinifications under the best conditions.
Following a very rainy spring, the beautiful summer that followed made it possible to obtain perfectly ripened fruit. A manual parcel harvest, combined with densimetric sorting, helped select only the best.
Made from a blend of Merlot (85%) and Cabernet Franc (15%), the Chateau Dalem 2018 is aged in oak barrels (40% of which are of new oak). A great vintage for the property, the Chateau Dalem 2018 shows off all of the qualities of an exceptional Fronsac. This vintage offers a beautiful aromatic complexity, ripe fruit, fine tannins and great depth. A Fronsac of great elegance and complexity.
The 2018 Dalem (90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc) is deep garnet-purple in color and a little broody to begin, giving way to a core of baked blueberries, kirsch, redcurrant jelly and blackberry pie plus wafts of bay leaves and truffles. Full-bodied with bags of generous black fruit sparked by red fruit accents and a firm, velvety texture, it has a lovely refreshing lift on the finish.
