The concentration and harmony of a great vintage in Saint-Julien

On the Left Bank of Bordeaux, Chateau Beychevelle is one of the most sought-after crus of the Saint-Julien appellation. The dense and deep profile of each vintage, its consistency of excellence and its rich history have made it one of the key labels of Bordeaux.

2018 is one of the greatest vintages of the estate. Following a first half of the season with plenty of humidity, the last 4 months were magnificent, with a lot of sunshine, heat and dryness. The significant water reserves of spring helped create optimal conditions, allowing for the production of concentrated and fresh wines.

The Chateau Beychevelle 2018 is made from a blend of 50% Merlot, 41% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc. This Saint-Julien property sums up the 2018 vintage in two words: harmony and concentration. These two characteristics, most representative of Chateau Beychevelle 2018, translated into a perfect balance rarely achieved. Boasting an intense aromatic profile, this wine is dominated by flavors of ripe red and black fruits. Its harmonious palate, both concentrated and fresh, offers a silky tannic structure, a very expressive attack and a length that stretches without force. All the highlights are there to make the Chateau Beychevelle 2018 one of the great vintages of this Saint-Julien property and a fantastic wine to age.

Wine Advocate-Parker :
The deep garnet-purple colored 2018 Beychevelle wafts sensuously from the glass with fragrant Black Forest cake, potpourri, star anise and black tea scents over a core of black raspberries, warm blackcurrants and kirsch with touches of fallen leaves and lavender. Full-bodied and packed with fragrant red and black fruit layers, it has a firm, velvety texture and fantastic freshness lifting the very long, perfumed finish. Beautiful! Anticipated time in barrel is 18 months, 60% new and 40% second fill. The tentative blend is 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 41% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc.
