Mourvedre

Mourvedre (a.k.a. Monastrell) is a red grape originally from Spain, but now also grown in the Rhone Valley and Provence. Often blended with Grenache (in Chateauneuf-du-Pape, for example), Mourvedre is used to produce full-bodied, high-tannin, meaty wines with aromas of dark fruit, fennel and black pepper.
