Long famous for the quality of its wines, Château Fonréaud is a prestigious Cru Bourgeois Supérieur located in the commune of Listrac-Medoc. The vineyard is in a marvelous location on the highest elevation in the Medoc. The perfect combination of grape varieties grown on a diversity of soils expresses itself with style and distinction in the wine. Château Fonréaud is round, full-bodied and smooth, with very ripe tannin. It spreads out deliciously on the palate and has an excellent structure. The vat room has numerous small temperature-controlled vats which make it possible to fine-tune winemaking in order to bring out the nuances of each vineyard plot. The wine is barrel-aged before being bottled at the château. The elegance and charm of this great wine reflect the spirit of the Chanfreau family.
Wine Advocate-Parker :
A fruity style from Fonréaud, their 2012 is a blend of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot. The wine is soft, round, juicy and one of their better examples in this vintage. Dark ruby/purple, with loads of cassis and black cherry, it is earthy, spicy, and best drunk over the next 5-6 years.
