Poinciana is an elegant Tempranillo from sun-drenched Ribera del Duero, Spain. Bodegas Santa Eulalia was founded in 1950 as the first vineyard in Burgos, a provincial capital in Spain’s autonomous community of Castile and León. A Mediterranean climate combined with soils packed with limestone, marl, and silty sands, makes this area the perfect region for growing Tempranillo.
Winemaker Nuria Peña Albillo works passionately to inspire an appreciation for the outstanding quality of Spanish wines and their national Tempranillo grape. Aged in new French and American oak barrels over two years, Poinciana has the roundness and toasted flavors of an oaked red. This well-structured wine shows a firm tannic spine and lively balsamic acidity framing an appealing mix of currant, blackberry, espresso, and anise flavors. It has power yet remains balanced and graceful. Drink now or age for a decade.
An ideal companion for roasts, meats and cheeses, Poinciana is the quintessential and beloved wine of tapas bars and outdoor terraces of Spain.
