Kavalier is a Riesling Kabinett – the driest, lightest and freshest style of German Riesling - from the iconic Mosel Valley producer Weingut Selbach-Oster. In the words of Wine Advocate, “Selbach-Oster might be one of the hottest domains along the Mosel, if not in all Germany.” The family has been growing vines since 1661 on vineyards located on some of the best land in the region called “Mittelmosel.” ­The soil is made of Devonian slate and 40-year-old vines are grown on steep, south-facing mountain slopes towards the Mosel River.

From old, ungrafted vines, the Riesling grapes used in the Kavalier are concentrated and defined. The wine undergoes a cool and slow fermentation to preserve the aromas and fruit purity. It is then aged in stainless steel tanks on the lees for 6 months, bringing complexity and nuance.

A dry, light-bodied, and crisp Riesling with a fragrant bouquet and apple aromas. A very versatile wine to sip alone as well as pair with a wide array of food, especially freshwater fish, smoked meats, and spicy cuisine. A great capacity for aging.
