Triennes : Triennes 2017

A Refreshing Rose with Strawberry and White Flower Aromas

Triennes is the result of a partnership between two Burgundian gentlemen (Aubert de Villaine and Jacques Seysses of Domaine Dujac) and their Parisian friend Michel Macaux who were inspired by the terroir of Domaine du Logis de Nans, east of Aix en Provence. Here, they discovered gently sloping hillsides and vines planted in clay and limestone soils, enjoying a cool microclimate and sunny southern exposure. They acquired this property and renamed it Triennes, after the Bacchian festival Triennia held during Roman times. "Tri" also recalls the history of the project and the partnership between the three founders. Since its purchase in 1989, the 46-hectare property has been transformed and now produces wines of excellent quality. The Triennes Rose 2017 is a blend of mostly Cinsault, Grenache, Syrah and Merlot, which grew in a variety of soils. The fruit was harvested at night to keep the grapes cool and pressed after just a few hours of skin contact. The must was fermented at a low temperature.

The Triennes Rose 2017 displays in the glass a pretty pale pink color, typical of the rose wines of this region. On the nose, this IGP Mediterranee wine reveals an entrancing bouquet of strawberries and white flower petals, along with hints of vanilla. On the palate, this Provence rose displays a great harmony, elegance and freshness, making it the perfect choice for a summertime aperitif or a backyard barbecue.
