Description
A Complex Bordeaux Blend from Tuscany
Tenuta di Trinoro 2011 is a Bordeaux-style blend, composed of 90% Cabernet Franc, 6% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Petit Verdot, made in southeastern Tuscany. The vines, which are over 20 years old, grow in a mosaic of soils - mostly clay-limestone and gravel. The 2011 growing season was characterized by heat waves and severe drought, claiming half of the Merlot that year. But, a great storm in October introduced cooler temperatures, making for fresher fruit. The three grape varietals included in the blend were harvested between October 21st and 31st, and exhibted an exciting diversity in ripness. The wine matured for 8 months in new French oak barriques, then 10 months in cement vats.
