Description
A Powerful, Well-Rounded Red Wine from an Emblematic Rhone Estate
In 1834, a century before the creation of the French AOC system, Antoine Jaboulet founded the Maison Paul Jaboulet Aine estate, eventually becoming a shining emblem of the Northern Rhone region with an estate that spans over the Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage, Cornas, St. Péray, St. Joseph and Condrieu appellations. Ten years ago, the property was purchased by the Frey family, owners of the prestigious Chateau La Lagune in Bordeaux and long-standing winemakers in the Champagne region. They began converting the 100 hectares of vineyards of the estate to biodynamic and sustainable practices. Caroline Frey is the current winemaker of this prestigious estate, known today as one of France's finest, ensuring the consistent quality of the estate's wines, above all their famous flapship, the Hermitage La Chapelle. The Vacqueyras "Les Cyprès" 2015 from Paul Jaboulet Aine is a blend of 75% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 5% Mourvedre, named after the cypress trees that grow along the picturesque vineyards. The vines, with a minimum age of 35 years, grow in dry, sandy soils on a bedrock of limestone. The wines are matured in tronconique, 15,000 L neutral barrels.
The Vacqueyras "Les Cyprès" 2015 from Maison Paul Jaboulet Aine is a beautiful blended red wine from the Vacqueyras appellation of the Northern Rhone. The wine displays a gorgeous bright ruby color with violet reflections. On the nose, this Rhone Valley wine expresses ripe, macerated fruit aromas, as well as southern herbs. The palate is quite powerful, voluptuous and well-rounded, finishing on spicy notes. This wine will evolve nicely in the bottle for up to 5 years of cellaring.
