Description
The Queen of Pinot Noir's Take on an Elegant Yet Complex Sauvignon Blanc
One of California’s first woman winemakers, Merry Edwards began her wine career in 1974. Before opening her own winery, she worked at two wineries and consulted for numerous large and small vineyards in diverse appellations of California and Oregon. In 1998, Merry branched out on her own to plant her first vineyard, Meredith Estate. This led to her other founding vineyards Coopersmith, Warren’s Hill, Flax Vineyard and Georganne. The winery started out producing only Pinot Noir, but in 2014, Sauvignon Blanc was introduced into the Forestville Vineyard and on the lower slope of Meredith Estate. Today Merry Edwards Winery has 12 properties throughout the Russian River Valley. The winery is Certified California Sustainable and practices a sustainable way of life throughout the entire estate.
The Sauvignon Blanc is a beautiful and complex expression of the variety. Its fruit forward style has great ripe peach and mango on the palate, while its medium-bodied frame gives it a weightier backbone. While the Russian River Valley does not boast many Sauvignon Blanc vineyards, this wine is made from the oldest vineyards in the area. The thoughtful and elegant wine is leaps and bounds above other California Sauvignon Blancs.
