Description
A Savagnin from Jura with Seductive White Fruit Aromas
Les Granges Paquenesses is the creation of Loreline Laborde, who moved to Jura from Montpellier at a young age to pursue traditional winemaking in a relatively peaceful, rustic environment. Her property now spans a mere 3.5 hectares, which she has cultivated using biodynamic practices from the very beginning. The La Pierre cuvee is a single-variety Savagnin wine produced from the 30-year-old vines growing in the clay, limestone and sand marl soils of the St. Pierre vineyard, outside Pupillin. This site is located at an elevation of 400 m and is characterized by a cool climate, which leads to lean and mineral-driven Savagnin wines. The La Pierre 2016 is vinified using only native yeasts and neither fined nor filtered before bottling. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel, while the aging happens in neutral oak, with ullage leading to a more concentrated, slightly reduced style. The La Pierre 2016 from Les Granges Paquenesses displays a beautiful lemon yellow color in the glass. On the nose, this Jura Savagnin reveals a very seductive nose of white fruits, dried herbs, fresh hay and nuts, along with doughy touches. On the palate, the wine offers a sharp acidity and plenty of tangy apple flavor, leading to a medium long finish.
