Description
A Sonoma Pinot Noir with Ripe Red Fruit Flavors and a Savory Touch
The story of Farmstead Long Meadow Ranch dates back to the late 1800's, though it wasn't until the Hall family purchased the property in 1989 that it experienced a Renaissance in winemaking. The Halls nurtured the land back to its former glory, cutting back the forest that had covered the historical vineyards, olive groves and apple orchard that were once there. Long Meadow Ranch works with five properties that occupy over 150 acres in Napa and Anderson Valleys. All of these are certified organic by California Certified Organic Farmers. The fruit used to produce the Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast is sourced from growers in Sonoma Coast AVA of Sonoma County, whose warm days and cool, windy influence of the nearby Pacific Ocean combine to form the perfect environment for the cultivation of Pinot Noir. The Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast 2014 is a single-varity Pinot Noir wine, vinified in stainless steel tanks, with malolactic fermentation and maturation taking place in 30% new and 70% neutral oak barrels. The Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast 2014 from Farmstead Long Meadow Ranch displays a moderately dark, purplish color in the glass. The nose offers gorgeous aromas of crushed wild strawberries, fresh cherries, brown sugar and spice with a caramelized touch from the oak. In the mouth, this wine is soft, smooth and juicy, revealing plenty of ripe red fruit flavors, as well as a savory touch of herbs. Smooth tannins arrive on the finish. This is an easy-drinking, wonderfully harmonious Pinot Noir.
