The upcoming Bordeaux Tasting with Pierre Lurton hosted by the fi:af (the French Institute Alliance Francaise of New York City) will bring together two influential figures of the wine industry: Pierre Lurton (member of one of Bordeaux's legendary winemaking families, Managing Director of Chateau Cheval Blanc, President of Chateau d'Yquem and owner of Chateau Marjosse) and Susan Kostrzewa (Editor-in-Chief of Wine Enthusiast magazine, Folio's Changemaker of the Year 2018 and one of Wine Business Monthly's 2020 Wine Industry Leaders).
During this 1-hour virtual tasting, Pierre Lurton will discuss his newest winemaking endeavor: the Anthologie Wine Collection by Chateau Marjosse. In 2017, Lurton and his newly hired winemaker Jean-Marc Domme created their very first micro-vinifications of small-batch wines from carefully selected parcels of the Chateau Marjosse property. These exciting, single-vineyard expressions of the estate's magnificent terroir come together to form the Anthologie Wine Collection, whose debut commercial vintage was 2018. Each cuvée in this new collection embodies Lurton's poetic spirit and is named after one of the birds that can be found on the property. The virtual tasting will allow wine lovers nationwide to taste along with Pierre and Susan, as they discuss these new wines.
To make it easier to find these wines, we've put together a tasting kit comprising one 75cl bottle each of the following three wines:
- Cuvee Hirondelle 2018: This is a floral and spicy single-varietal Muscadelle made from vines aged 75 years on average.
- Cuvee Chardonneret 2018: A 100% Chardonnay that is as lively and melodious as the goldfinch after which it was named.
- Cuvee Ortolan 2018: This single-varietal Cabernet Franc exudes delicious aromas of wild strawberries and redcurrants, along with fresh floral fragrances of iris and touches of black pepper on the finish.
