The powerful expression and aromatic harmony of a great Sauternes wine

The estate

A Sauternes Premier Cru Classe since 1855, Chateau Lafaurie-Peyraguey is one of the most prestigious names in this iconic appellation for sweet wines, located towards the south of the Bordeaux region.

The vineyard

Chateau Lafaurie-Peyraguey has an exceptional terroir, with a 30-hectare vineyard exclusively reserved for the production of its Sauternes Premier Cru Classe.

Tasting

Chateau Lafaurie-Peyraguey 2007 is widely acclaimed by critics, with James Suckling describing it as "dense and rich, with a lot of character, aromas of dried banana and honey, full-bodied, moderately sweet, with some spices and a long, powerful finish". This cru seduces with its sumptuous style which combines power, a velvety smoothness, length and precision, resulting in a perfect style.

Blend

Chateau Lafaurie-Peyraguey 2007 is produced from a blend of Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle.

Wine Advocate-Parker :
Cropped over 7 tries with 130 grams per liter of residual sugar, the 2007 Chateau Lafaurie-Peyraguey has a generous bouquet with almond, dried honey, minerals and yellow flowers - a little resinous and almost Barsac-like at first, though developing more botrytized aromas with time. The palate is medium-bodied with a honeyed entry. There is very good weight here: plenty of botrytized fruit, good acidity, lovely notes of mandarin, marmalade, quince and a twist of citrus lemon on the dense and assertive finish. This is a top Lafaurie-Peyraguey that was worth the perseverance during the harvest.
