Description
An elegant and refined Pauillac red wine
The estate
Located in the heart of the Pauillac appellation, on the left bank of Bordeaux, Chateau Grand-Puy-Lacoste took its current form in 1855, although it was built as early as the 16th century. The estate was marked by the passage of Raymond Dupin from 1930 to 1978. He then sold the estate to the Borie family in 1978, who have since carried out some renovation work on the estate. Chateau Grand-Puy-Lacoste is one of the most prominent wines in the Pauillac appellation today.
The vineyard
Chateau Grand-Puy-Lacoste’s vineyard represents 90 hectares of vines that are planted on deep gravelly hilltops. 58 hectares are planted in a single block. The vines are around 30 years old on average.
The blend
Chateau Grand-Puy-Lacoste 2011 is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (78%) and Merlot (22%).
The tasting
Color
The color is a deep and intense red.
Nose
The bouquet reveals typical black fruit and blackcurrant aromas complemented by lightly spicy notes.
Palate
Châaeau Grand Puy Lacoste 2011 develops a precise attack on the palate which offers an elegant and balanced structure. This wine forms a pleasant and well-balanced whole, combining finesse, freshness and persistence. This vintage presents a beautiful and refined fruity expression which is combined with very ripe and smooth tannins.
