Enjoy a Delightful Malbec Blend from Southwest France
Just an hour and a half east of Bordeaux, Château du Cèdre makes beautiful Malbec driven wines. In 1990, the winery took steps to become certified organic and banned all herbicides and chemicals with one motto in mind: "move forward and experience new ways." With this new practice, the wines became even more terroir driven and remarkably balanced.
The 2014 du Cèdre Cahors is quite approachable when young, but can age exceptionally well. The wine is made up of 90% Malbec, 5% Tannat and 5% Merlot. The grapes come from vines that are over 30 years old and are grown in three distinct plots on the estate. This wine bursts with floral notes of violet and a hint of red fruit. The palate is balanced, fresh and fruity with sweet tannins and a long finish. The labels are decorated with the signature cedar trees that surround the estate. This well-priced red blend is a great introduction to the wines of southwest France.
