Description
A Smooth Vegan Rosé Wine from Côtes de Provence
Chateau Coussin is one of the properties belonging to the Sumeire family estate, and is located in the heart of the Trets terroir, next to Mont Sainte Victoire in the appellation of Cotes de Provence. The château was passed down through a succession of women until eventually being inherited by Elie Sumeire, who has restored the property with the help of his sons. The vineyards of the family estate have for a long time been managed with minimal use of chemical pesticides and has recently transitioned to a genuinely sustainable form of agriculture in order to protect the health of both the natural ecosystem and the end-consumer. The Chateau Coussin rose is a vegan wine produced from a blend of 60% Grenache, 20% Cinsault and 20% Syrah, harvested from vines aged 30 years on average and planted in clay-limestone soils with ancient gravelly alluvial deposits. In the glass, the Chateau Coussin 2017 presents a pretty pale pink color. The nose is generous with aromas of cranberries, strawberries and fresh red currant. On the palate this vegan wine is extremely smooth, offering a pleasant freshness on the finish that makes it the perfect pairing with an array of light summer dishes, including seafood risotto or tuna tartar.
