Moet & Chandon : Brut Imperial Rose

An aromatic and structured Brut Rosé Champagne

The producer

Moët Champagne (the House of Moet & Chandon) was founded in 1743 by Claude Moët, a visionary wine merchant, who quickly made Moet Chandon a reference in the highest courts of Europe. A few years later his grandson, Jean-Rémy Moët, developed the reputation of the house internationally. Notably, Jean-Rémy Moët notably created the iconic cuvée of the house, the Moet and Chandon Imperial, in honor of the Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte, who visited the estate on several occasions and who allegedly invented the tradition of bashing open a bottle of Moët Chandon champagne to celebrate a victory with his troops. Owned by the LVMH group since 1987, the Moet and Chandon Champagne House produces, from a very rigorous selection of Champagne terroirs, unique cuvées recognized across borders for their quality and for their seductive personality.

The wine

The Moet Rose was first released in 1996 and represents the rosé expression of the House's flagship Moet Chandon Imperial Brut range.

The blend

The Moet Chandon Rose is made from a blend of Pinot Noir (40 to 50%), Pinot Meunier (30 to 40%) and Chardonnay (10 to 20%). The dosage is 9 g/liter.

The tasting

Color

Quite radiant in the glass, this rosé champagne sports a beautiful pink color, predominantly red, adorned with subtle purple reflections.

Nose

Lively and generous, the bouquet exudes fruity (strawberry, raspberry, redcurrant) and floral (rose, hawthorn) fragrances, enhanced by a subtle peppery touch.

Palate

Round and intense, the palate seduces with its amplitude, its structure and its sweet and vegetal notes (mint).

Wine Advocate-Parker :
The latest release of the NV Brut Impérial Rosé offers up a pretty bouquet of candied strawberries and red berries, followed by a medium-bodied, delicately fleshy, open-knit palate that's nicely balanced, albeit somewhat ephemeral. Considering the volume produced, it's a creditable effort, and it's worth noting that the wine's dosage is well integrated.
