Description
Located in the Chianti Classico commune of Castellina, this Castellare is comprised primarily of the local Sangiovese grape, Sangioveto. Research began in the 1970’s by the estate to isolate this clone to enable the winery to make this a very unique style of Chianti Classico. Bright ruby red in appearance, the Castellare Chianti Classico shows well integrated aromas of tart red cherries, tobacco and earth. The palate show a firm structure that gives way to a refreshing acidity making this a very versatile food friendly wine.
