An Uruguayan Tannat with an Intense Purple Color

Located just 11 miles inland from the Atlantic Ocean, near the beautiful coastal cities of Punta del Este, La Barra and Jose Ignacio, Bodega Garzon has become known as Uruguay's wine ambassador to the world. The estate comprises 1,000 small hillside vineyard blocks, each with its own unique microclimate. The vines enjoy a high degree of sun exposure, developing rich and expressive flavors that come through beautifully in the wine. The Tannat Reserva 2016 from Bodega Garzon is a red wine made exclusively with Tannat, Uruguay's flagship grape variety. Originally from France, Tannat achieves a wonderful expression in Uruguay, where it makes velvety, smooth wines with a strong local character. This wine ferments in 150 hectoliter cement tanks and then undergoes 12 to 16 months of maturation on its lees in 50 hectoliter French oak barrels and bottis, a technique that adds a hint of oak that integrates well with the fruit without overpowering it.

The Tannat Reserva 2016 from Bodega Garzón seduces the taster with its deeply intense purple color. On the nose, this Uruguayan Tannat is very fresh, exuding aromas of red and black fruits, including plums, raspberries and cherries with a delicate hint of spice. On the palate, this wine shows off a strong personality with smooth, ripe and very mature tannins, along with a nice touch of minerality.
