Description
The Anthill Farms Baker Ranch Vineyard Pinot Noir 2015: A smooth and fruity Pinot Noir
The Baker Ranch Vineyard Pinot Noir 2015 of Anthill Farms is a single-varietal red Pinot Noir wine made with fruit from the deeper side of Anderson Valley, west of the hamlet of Philo, just above the redwoods of Hendy Woods. The vineyard is located on an east-facing slope on the southern slope of the valley. The 20-year-old vines are planted in shallow slate-based soils of the Casabonne-Wohly complex, boasting a very high mineral content and high pH for this area.
The Anthill Farms Baker Ranch Vineyard Pinot Noir 2015 exudes aromas of cherry liqueur, green tea and jasmine on the nose, followed by subtle hints of fresh mushroom. On the palate this wine offers a velvety, smooth mouthfeel and a very intense mid-palate. Juicy acids and subtle tannins add structure and complement the gentle sweetness of the fruit. It ends with a beautifully long, floral and spicy finish. This wine can easily be consumed in its youth or kept for the next 3-8 years.
