The grace of a flamboyant Aile d’Argent
A great white wine from the exceptional terroir of Chateau Mouton Rothschild produced in the Bordeaux White Wine AOC, Aile d'Argent tells the story of a wine rich in memories. The Aile d'Argent was created by the Baroness Philippine de Rothschild in memory of the story written and published by her father in 1947, and it embodies the precision and purity that is exclusive to the greatest wines of Bordeaux.
A vintage of contrasts that is particularly flattering to the whites, the Aile d'Argent 2017 is crowned as a First Grand Cru Classe of Pauillac and it shines as one of the most beautiful revelations from the Medoc whites this vintage.
In a blend reflecting all the typical Bordeaux white grape varieties (53% Sauvignon Blanc, 46% Semillon, 1% Muscadelle), the Aile d'Argent 2017 shines with a brilliant yellow color and shimmers with green hues. Intensely pure, the bouquet reveals a large aromatic palate of delicate white-fleshed fruit, sensual and sweet exotic fruit, and highlighted with fresh citrus notes. The sumptuous attack envelops the palate with a rich and concentrated texture that emphasizes the ample fruit and enhances the perfectly balanced acidity to give tension. The Aile d'Argent 2017 displays all the generosity of its personality as it unfolds into a powerful finish that gains intensity and highlights the purest expression of the terroir’s minerality up until the very end. A gorgeous dry white that is classy and flawless.
Wine Advocate-Parker :
One-third of the crop for this wine was lost to frost. A blend of 53% Sauvignon Blanc, 46% Sémillon and 1% Muscadelle, the 2017 Aile d'Argent has lovely white peaches, lemon curd and beeswax notes with hints of orange peel, grapefruit and a touch of sage. The palate is light to medium-bodied and bursting with exuberant stone fruit and citrus flavors, with a racy line and a long, peachy finish.
