The Bordeaux Supérieur and AOC Bordeaux appellation represent the largest fine-wine area in the world (60 000 hectares and 50% of the vineyards in the Gironde area). Bordeaux supérieur AOC quality standards are more rigorous than regular Bordeaux appellations. Superior reds (Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon) usually produce less wine and must age at least 12 months before being bottled. Those beautiful wines show black fruits aromas and subtle woody touches.
