Three Rings : Reserve Shiraz 2005

The Three Rings label is focused on only one grape variety, Shiraz. There are only two wines under the Three Rings label, the Shiraz and the Shiraz Reserve. For the Reserve Shiraz, all the fruit is coming from a single vineyard owned by David Hickenbotham in the Kalimna sub-region of the Barossa Valley. David's vineyard is planted on slopes with the rows running north and south. The vines are an average of eighty five years old and have had to root deeply through the sandy loam and black clay soils to find nourishment. These stressed growing conditions result in low yields of highly concentrated fruit. This is evident in the quality and concentration found in the Three Rings Reserve Shiraz.
