Description
Dan Odfjell decided to name one branch of the Odfjell wines "Armador" which is Spanish for "ship owner". The Odfjell 2011 Armador Carmenère is saourced from ten to twenty year old vines grown in the Maule Valley. The grapes are hand harvested before being transported to the winery by the Odfjell Fjord horses, where they are destemmed before undergoing up to six days of cold maceration prior to fermentation. A small amount of the wine is aged in used oak barrels for three months. The Odfjell Armador Carmenère displays aromas of licorice, clove, and black pepper along with that of ripe black fruits. The refreshing and soft palate finishes with vanilla and hints of bitter chocolate.
