Description
The team at Miravel does excellent work with Bordeaux varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Sauvignon Blanc. However, in this wine they wanted to showcase the grape variety that was put on the map by South Africa, Pinotage. This grape is the result of cross breeding the Pinot Noir grape along with the Cinsault grape. This happened in 1925, at which time the Cinsault grape was referred to as "Hermitage", and so the new variety was named Pinotage. The 2010 Miravel Pinotage shows notes of dark fruits with some forest floor. The wine is full bodied with a smooth long finish, as well as the potential to age for up to eight years.
