Description
2014 Saint-Joseph, Sélections Parcellaires, Rhone Valley.
The "vin de Mauves" (as the Saint-Joseph wine is referred to in Les Misérables by Victor Hugo) was reknowed during the last century, even on the Tsars tables. The name "Saint-Joseph" comes from de name of the Order of Carmelites who originally cultivated the vineyard; Saint-Joseph was their patron saint. The 2014 Saint-Joseph Les Granits of M.Chapoutier offers jammy ripped-black fruit fragrances, smoky and mineral notes (which is a specific of the essentially granitic soils and subsoils of the appellation). On the palate, the tannins are dense and tight with a good aromatic persistence. This wine is full-bodied and robust. This wine can usually be kept for 30 to 60 years or even 75 years for the most patients.
