Latium Morini : Campo Leon 2010

The Latium Morini Amarone della Valpolicella Campo Leon is made from the traditional Valpolicella blend of 70% Corvina, 20% Rondinella and 10% Oseleta and Croatina. Hand harvested from sustainably grown vineyards, the grapes destined for the Amarone are placed in small racks and dried in climate-controlled facilities for 100 to 120 days. This traditional method concentrates the flavors of the grape resulting in a fuller, unctuous and complex wine. Pressed and fermented, the wine is aged in 350-litre oak barrels for 30 months followed by an additional 10 months in bottle before being released into the market. An explosive nose of violets, cherries, vanilla and black pepper carries through and delights the palate. Full bodied with a lovely freshness and fine tannins, this wine beckons a medium rare porterhouse or beef brisket.
