Isole e Olena : Cepparello 2011

The current manager of Isole e Olena Cepparello, Paolo de Marchi, is one of the most well-respected winemakers in the region, producing wines of 100% pure Sangiovese . Introducing Cepparello in 1980, he was a pioneer in the pure Sangiovese movement in Tuscany. He believed Sangiovese did not need to be blended with international grape varieties like most Super Tuscans . Today, the Isole e Olena Cepparello remains a wine that reflects the unique characteristics of Tuscany's indigenous Sangiovese grape. The vines are grown 400 meters above sea level, on soils primarily of schistose clay. A lovely aroma of currant, sweet rose petal, raspberry and cinnamon powder fill the glass. Aromatically expressive and perfectly precise, enjoy this wine with traditional Italian dishes like meat Lasagna or pasta.
