If chateau Picque Caillou managed to resist the voracious urbanisation of the town of Mérignac by fighting it tooth and nail, it is due to the sheer willpower of the Denis family in the 1940s. The viticultural tradition and defence of this Cru are now guaranteed by Paulin Calvet and his wife, the daughter of the Denis family. On this gravel and sandy soil, a love for well-made, pedigree wine produces wines made with the utmost care in a style of accessible bottles, resolutely fruity and made to the highest standards.
