Ecologica : Torrontes 2012

From the La Riojana co-operative in La Rioja Argentina, comes the label Ecologica, and one of their two wines, the Torrontes. Ecologica is certified both as a fair-trade product and an organic wine. The La Riojana co-op maintains an ethical philosophy of caring for the environment through organic practices, as well as being socially responsible through fairtrade practices, assuring an adequate return on the work of all of their members. The Ecologica Torrontes is done entirely in tank, using only lees stirring, instead of oak, to give the wine a richer and rounder profile. The wine shows notes of peach, melon, and orange blossom backed by a crisp acidity. Despite the fruit driven flavor profile, the lingering finish remains dry.
