Description
The slopes of this Grand Cru site are located on the right bank of the Serein River, forming a valley between Grand Cru Les Clos and Grand Cru Vaudesir. Moreau’s parcels are located in two exposures, one in the north-west, and one in the south-east. Average age of the vines are 50 years, and the grapes are harvested by hand, carried by small trailers which unload the grapes with gentle vibration to avoid crushing, followed by a mindful sorting to eliminate unripe or damaged grapes.
In the cellar, a pneumatic winepress is used, followed by cool racking to preserve the character of the wines. 55% aged in stainless steel, 45% in barrels (90% in 1-3 year old barrels, 10% in new and 1 year old barrels) for a period of six months.
Tasting notes: This is a richer expression of Moreau’s wines, with a stony element underlying the apple and melon flavors. Vibrant acidity drives this wine, with a touch of wood rounding out the yellow fruits. The minerality here is intense, robust and masculine in disposition. This wine will age slowly and elegantly, a wine to be cellared and enjoyed later.
