Description
Located on the left bank of the Serein river, this Premier Cru site benefits from excellent south, south-east exposure and a soil made of Kimmeridgian clay rich with the fossil shells of a small oyster, Exogrya virgula. Older vines are found here, up to 56 years old, and wines are harvested by hand, and treated with the utmost care during transportation to the winery. This Premier Cru wine is aged in 65% stainless steel vats and 35% barrels for a period of six months.
Domaine Christian Moreau Pere et Fils owns a totally of just under 10 acres of the famous Vaillon vineyard. The particular plots have terrific drainage for its Kimmeridgian clay soils, and the southern exposure provided optimum sunlight for the growing season. The wines here express the perfect typicity of Chardonnay from this area in Burgundy.
Tasting notes: Smoky on the nose, with green apple, lemon notes and a hint of citrus peel. The palate boasts notes of green apple, quinine and white pepper accents.
