Description
COS was founded by Giambattista Cilia, Ciusto Occhipinti and Cirino Strano, three friends who wanted to make wines like their ancestors did. They began in 1980 with just 3 hectares of vines and became the youngest winemakers in Italy. Adapting biodynamic practices to maintain balance with nature and with a healthy fascination with ancient cellar practices, COS started working with amphora, clay jars used for winemaking by the ancient Greeks. This ultimately provides the signature style COS is famous for today. The COS Maldafrica comes from South-Eastern Sicily in the Vittoria region. A blend of 50% Merlot and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, farmed biodynamically on limestone-siliceous soils, this wine displays dark fruit, spice, herbs and tobacco. A wine that opens up slowly and seduces the senses; enjoy it now or lay down for a few years.
