  Château d'Armailhac

Cluster

Chateau d'Armailhac is owned by Baroness Philippine de Rothschild and her children. It has been through several changes of name in the course of its history, the latest being a return to the estate's origins.

Designated as a Fifth Growth in the official classification drawn up by the Bordeaux wine-brokers of 1855. In the same year, Armand d'Armailhacq published a learned treatise on vine-growing and wine-making in the Medoc.

In 1989, now inseparable from Chateau Mouton Rothschild, Mouton-d'Armailhacq was to play a vital role. As a neighbor, its vast outbuildings were used to store the necessary technical and agricultural equipment for both chateaux.

Also in 1989, Baroness Philippine de Rothschild restored part of its original identity, renaming it Chateau d'Armhailac.

The Chateau d'Armhailac label is illustrated with a little figure of Bacchus made of spun glass from the Museum of Wine in Art at Chateau Mouton Rothschild.
