Château Picque Caillou

This property of 49 acres lies in what is considered the birthplace of Bordeaux wines, in Pessac-Leognan, and very close to two very noble estates, Pape Clement and First Growth Haut Brion. 'Caillou' means pebble in French and evokes the sandy gravel present here over a bed of fine Gunzian gravel. Plantings are equal parts of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot (45% apiece) along with Cabernet Franc. The wine normally matures for 12 months in 1/3 new oak.
