Description

Fresh and elegant, a great Haut-Medoc red wine

The estate

Located at the entrance of the Pauillac appellation, Chateau Peyrabon is nestled in a green haven. Owned by Patrick Bernard since 1998, Chateau Peyrabon has undergone major work, both in the vineyard and the cellar, in order to reorganize and modernize the estate. Chateau Peyrabon is a very fine Haut-Medoc reference, producing elegant and powerful wines which offer a promising and superb aging potential.

The vineyard

Near the village of Saint-Sauveur in the Medoc region, Chateau Peyrabon is a standard reference among fine Haut-Medoc wines. The vineyard spreads across 42 hectares, which are 24 years old on average and are planted on sandy gravel with a clay subsoil. 5 hectares of the vineyard rest on clay-limestone soils.

Vinification and aging

The grapes are sorted in whole bunches and then destemmed on a vibrating table for the manual harvest. The vinification is carried out in temperature-controlled concrete and stainless steel tanks, followed by pumping over, punching down and adapted delestage in order to favor a gentle extraction. Maceration for 19 to 24 days. Malolactic fermentation partly in barrels. The wine is aged for 14 months in barrels (30% new oak) and then fined in vats.

The blend

Cabernet Sauvignon (60%)

Merlot (40%)
