Chateau Margaux 2007 : a classy, fine and dense Margaux wine

Chateau Margaux is a 1st Classified Growth of 1855 in the world-famous Margaux appellation and the only First Growth estate to bear the same name as its appellation. Margaux wine was one of the favorite of then U.S. ambassador and the future 3^rd president of the United States, Thomas Jefferson, who in 1784 described it as “there cannot be a better bottle of Bordeaux.” The vines of this prestigious estate are planted on a rump of gravel, the characteristic soil type of the appellation.

The 2007 vintage Chateau Margaux wine is a blend consisting of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc. Following weather conditions that were quite poor, the 2007 vintage was saved thanks to a superb Indian summer. The grapes underwent a severe selection process, as evidenced by the 32% of the harvest used to create this great Margaux wine. Chateau Margaux 2007 owes its character mainly to Cabernet Sauvignon, representing the majority of this blend and lending it a certain air of nobility, class, finesse and density. Complementing the Cabernet Sauvignon is Merlot, a varietal that offers the wine a full-bodied texture, tenderness and great richesse.
