Description
An ample and structured red wine from Saint-Julien
Château Lalande-Borie is a Cru bourgeois produced in the Saint-Julien appellation. The 25-hectare vineyard is located on the western plateau of Saint-Julien. The wine is aged 30% in new oak barrels and the rest in oak barrels used for one previous wine, over a period of 12 months. The 2016 vintage blends 55% Merlot and 45% Cabernet Sauvignon.
After a rainy and humid spring with cool temperatures, dead arm disease, mildew and powdery mildew were observed on the vine. The complicated spring was followed by plenty of heat and dryness in the summer. Finally, the Indian Summer and the tremendous thermal amplitude of the days of September allowed the grapes to reach optimal maturity before a peaceful harvest.
With its dark garnet color, the Château Lalande-Borie 2016 reveals a fruity nose, with aromas of plums, combined with beautifully integrated woody notes. The attractive palate shows off an ample and beautiful structure, before a finish of sublime length. A subtle and classy wine.
