Description
A fresh and beautifully structured red wine from Saint-Estèphe
A 4th Classified Growth produced in the Saint-Estèphe appellation, Château Lafon-Rochet enjoys a terroir composed of deep gravel and gravel on clay. The wine is aged in French oak barrels (50% of which are new) for 14 to 16 months, depending on the year. The blend of the 1996 vintage contains 56% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Cabernet Franc.
The Château Lafon-Rochet 1996 develops a bouquet combining flowers, freshness and salinity. Full-bodied on the palate, the wine offers a pleasant finish of an incredible length. One can note tasty touches of freshly cut mint and tannins which are still very powerful. This wine is still fresh and well-structured. To be consumed now or before 2020 (tasted by the estate in 2015).
