Tasting note : R. Bohmrich
Any aficianado of Chateauneuf - or Rhone blends for that matter - should not miss this late arrival of a stunning 2007. One of the appellation's oldest estates, La Nerthe's 225 acres of vines are located in one block around the chateau and have been certified organic since 1998. All 13 authorized grape varieties are grown, and the 2007 relies on 48% Grenache, 28% Syrah, 14% Mourvedre along with others. The 2007 bottling is unusual in that the property "declassified" the wine normally destined for their elite Cuvee des Cadettes. As a result, the wine has even more dimension along with profound ripe fruit.
