Description
A blend of 80% Cabernet, 18% Merlot, and 2% Cabernet Franc, this 2009 Bordeaux Fifth Growth was a brilliant expression of an already very good vintage. 2009 was a particularly ripe year in Pauillac, Bordeaux, resulting in wines unusually concentrated. Exclusively hand harvested with two successive selections before and after the de-stemming process. Three week maceration followed by 16-18 months in French oak barrels (70% new).
Tasting Notes: Complex fruits and hints of ripe blackcurrant. Aromas of jammy dark berries, cassis, herbs, and coffee. On the finish, notes of cassis and black cherry flavors dominate. Precise on the palate with an exceptional velvety richness.
