Description
A red wine from Canon-Fronsac with ripe tannins
Produced in the Canon-Fronsac appellation, Chateau Canon Pecresse is a red wine planted on a 4.3 hectare vineyard. Canon Pecresse's terroir is made of calcium, clay and limestone. The vineyard has 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc planted.
2016 began with heavy rains in the spring, before an incredibly hot and warm summer. After a three month drought, there were thunderstorms on September 13th. This last-minute relief, provided the plants with the water that they were lacking. The grape harvest began on October 21st.
Chateau Canon Pecresse 2016 reveals surprising and splendid aromas. On the nose we can find raspberries, blueberries, herbs and spices. The mouth has a powerful attack and a magnificent acidity thanks to the limestone typical of Canon-Fronsac. The tannins are ripe, perfectly expressing the mineral aspect of the soil, and their structure is elegant. The finish is long with a pinch of salinity.
