Description
A delicious and balanced vintage champagne
The estate
Since its creation in 1818 by the married couple, Elisabeth Salmon and Nicolas-Francois Billecart, the Billecart-Salmon Champagne House has remained independent, having preserved all of its know-how and demand for high-quality cuvees for 7 generations.
The vineyard
The Billecart-Salmon vineyard covers 100 hectares from Cote des Blancs to the Reims mountain. The vines are cultivated and cared for in a traditional manner so that the wine resembles real fruit and to reflect the quality of its terroir.
The wine
The Cuvee Nicolas Francois Billecart was created in 1964 as a homage to the founder of this Champagne House.
Winemaking and aging
20% of the product is vinified in oak barrels. Partial malolactic fermentation. Aging on lees in the estate’s cellars lasts for 10 years. Dosage is 4g/liter.
Blend
The result of a blend of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and a partial vinification in oak barrels, this cuvee blends aromatic elegance wonderfully with the richness of fruit.
Tasting
Color
This wine is a beautiful golden yellow color, sparkling and engulfed with golden tints. Effervescence is delicate, with finely defined bubbles.
Nose
On the nose, the Nicolas Francois Billecart 1999 cuvee by the Billecart-Salmon house unleashes a beautiful aromatic richness. The cuvee is dominated by sugary notes of dried, lightly roasted fruits and nuts such as almonds, dried dates and chestnuts which are roasted then refined with a floral touch.
Palate
The palate has a strong character and balance. This exceptional champagne also holds a remarkable full-bodiedness.
Serving temperature
Serve at 11-12°C for optimal tasting.
