Description
The Secateurs Red Blend from A. A. Badenhurst Family Winery is a blend of Cinsault, Shiraz, Grenache, Mourvedre, and Pinotage. After being hand-picked, the grapes are fermented in open concrete tanks. Keeping with their traditional wine making beliefs, over the two weeks of fermentation, the wine is foot stomped twice a day. After 12 months on the lees in a mixture of neutral casks and concrete tanks, the wine is bottled with light filtration and no fining. Along with the ripe red fruit notes, the Secateurs Red Blend is also peppery and spicy with a light smoky quality. The wine is smooth and supple with enough grip from the tanning to provide structure and balance. Dry and refreshing, the wine is drinkable upon release.
