Located south of Blaye, the Côtes-de-Bourg appellation benefits from its position on a hillside dominating the Gironde. Côtes-de-Bourg wines come from vineyards with a total area of 3900 hectares, planted on limestone and sandy clay soils. Although the vineyards of Côtes-de-Bourg produce predominantly red wines (with 98% of the total production used to elaborate sophisticated blends of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Merlot), 2% of the vineyard is dedicated to the production of white wines from Colombard, Muscadelle and Sauvignon Blanc grapes.
